Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 2 celery sticks (chopped)
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the dumplings:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a pot, melt butter and sauté onion, carrots, and celery until softened.
  2. Add shredded chicken, broth, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bring to a gentle boil.
  4. In a bowl, mix dumpling ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, melted butter, and milk.
  5. Drop small spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering pot.
  6. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes until dumplings are fluffy.
  7. Stir in the milk or cream and simmer 3 more minutes.
  8. Serve warm and comforting.
